"Keeping The Memories Alive"

ALAN DODGE

As if 2021 did not get off to a bad enough start, what with all the turmoil in our society and the world, now we have the following very sad news to deal with.

Below is the obituary of our fellow classmate Alan Dodge as published on the Elliott Mortuary website:

Alan Dodge, 69, passed away January 7, 2021, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center. He was born August 30, 1951, in Hutchinson, to Robert and Emma (Thorington) Dodge.

Alan was a proud Vietnam veteran that served in the United States Army from 1970-1973. He enjoyed outdoor activities and loved spending time at the lake with family and friends playing ping pong, washers, and boating. Alan was always in attendance, showing his support for his children and grandchildren in their various activities over the years. In later years, one of his favorite activities was taking their dog, Gracie, for walks around the block or for rides in his truck.

On January 2, 1971, Alan married Leanne ‘Ann’ Phleger, in Hutchinson. They recently celebrated their 50th anniversary with a nice drive by parade. He was a loving husband, proud father, grandfather, and step-grandfather.

Alan is survived by: his wife, Leanne ‘Ann’ Dodge of Hutchinson; children, Travis (Jamie) Dodge of Monument, CO, and Tammi (Damon) Preston of Hutchinson; grandchildren, Cody Peterson, Jaiden Dodge, and Madison Dodge; step-grandchildren, Spencer Preston and Savanna Preston; mother, Emma Holmes of Hutchinson; sisters, Iris (Gary) Kauffman of Hutchinson, and Rhonda (John) Gould of California; special four-legged buddy, Gracie; and numerous loving nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, and parents-in-law, Joe and Neva Phleger.

Cremation has taken place and no services are planned at this time.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Kansas Honor Flight Inc., in care of Elliott Mortuary and Crematory, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.

Rest In Peace Alan.
