"Keeping The Memories Alive"

JOHN WALTER DALTON

We all knew John. And now he is gone. Very sad news. Always sad news. I am told that John's sister posted the following on John's Facebook page:

It is with profound sadness we announce the death of John Walter Dalton on December 12, 2022. His death was unexpected, sudden, and peaceful. It has been called a “heart event”.

In 1952 John was born to Walter and Shirley Dalton in Wichita. John always loved animals and visited his grandparent’s farm often. He played baseball in his younger years, but his favorite sport was basketball. In 1965 the family relocated to Hutchinson where John attended Liberty Junior High and then Hutchinson High School. KU was next and he was a member of the SAE fraternity house. He loved KU. And especially KU basketball. He played intramural basketball at Allen Field House. Ted Owens, the KU basketball coach, would ask John to stay and practice with the varsity squad. He would tell him to foul them hard.

After KU, John chose to farm his grandparent’s farm near Murdock. In 1993 he married Michelle Davis and they have two children Sydney and Jack. John pursued several careers along with farming. He was a real estate agent and business owner. First video stores and then two restaurants. Michelle joined him in these businesses. He focused on cattle in recent years. He loved to video his cattle and post on face book. He had wolf dogs for pets for years. He also loved dogs and cats. Big John was charming, good looking, friendly (he never met a stranger), a great friend, kept everyone laughing, great storyteller, excellent negotiator, and historian.

John is preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife Michelle; his children Sydney and Jack; sister, Susan Violand, and nieces Sarah Lord and Jessie Nolan.

Any future services are pending and will be announced later.

As per John’s usual signing out on Facebook videos……………………………DALTON OUT.

Rest In Peace John.
