Sadly, we have lost yet another classmate. Below is Keith Mendenhall's obituary as published on the
Hutchinson Funeral Chapel website:
Keith Alden Mendenhall, 68, of Hutchinson, died on August 13, 2020 at Diversicare, Hutchinson, Kansas. He was born May 3, 1952, in Hutchinson, the son of Bill and Ivy Irene (Petts) Mendenhall.
Keith graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1970 and graduated from Hutchinson Community College Practical Nursing Program in 1994. On March 19, 1983, Keith married Ruth Ford in Hutchinson. After Ruth's passing in 2013, Keith married Antonette Roufs on June 20, 2015 in Hutchinson. He was a Home Health and Hospice nurse for 26 years working for Hospice Care of Kansas, Intermin Health Care. Keith was also one of the founding members of Trails West EMS, a volunteer fire fighter for 15 years with District 6. Keith testified before the senate committee to change the law that allows emergency vehicles to use blue lights along with red lights on emergency vehicles.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Ruth P. Mendenhall and brother Neil G. Mendenhall.
Keith is survived by his wife Antonette, daughters; Peggy Bennett of Hutchinson, Antonette Miller of Altus, Oklahoma, Lavonda Cochran of McPherson and Sonja Hammer of Lyons; sons, John Mathew Owen Parker of Bel Air, Nick White, John Ford, both of Hutchinson, Dennis Redger of Sun City, California and Scott Redger of Hutchinson; and 15 grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 12:30 p.m., Tuesday, August 18, 2020 at Hutchinson Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Hutchinson, Kansas, with Pastor Luke Helmuth officiating. Friends may sign the book on August 17, 2020 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will take place in Memorial Park Cemetery, Hutchinson, KS. Memorials may be given to the Diversicare and sent in care of Hutchinson Funeral Chapel, 300 E. 30th Ave., Hutchinson, Kansas 67502.
