"Keeping The Memories Alive"

RANDY CROMWELL

This one is really hard for me to have to mention. I have so many fond memories of being on the Swim Team with Randy for three years at HHS. What a fun-loving guy he was. I know he will be dearly missed by his family and friends. He left us all way too soon. Good bye my friend.

As touchingly reported in "The Hutchinson News" on August 26, 2007:

WALNUT COVE, N.C. - Our deeply loved John "Randy" Cromwell has slipped the bonds of this world from diabetic-related complications in Walnut Cove, N.C. John was a native of Hutchinson, Kansas, and the son of the late Bertha Weed and Robert Cromwell.

John was a graduate of Hutchinson High School Class of l970, and was then known by family and friends as "Randy." While in high school, John was a Kansas State champion swimmer, an Eagle Scout, an honor student and trombone player in the band. After graduation, John moved to Colorado and then to Montana, where he graduated from the University of Montana with a degree in forestry.

John was a warm and caring person with a great sense of humor. He loved all animals and had owned both dogs and cats during his lifetime. His deep laughter would fill a room and he touched everyone he met in very positive ways. John worked for many years at Boeing Co. Seattle, in many capacities. He accepted the huge responsibility for Boeing as project manager overseeing the installation of the new x-ray machines in many of the airports in the northwest. His last job at Boeing was a safety inspection/scheduling manager.

John moved to North Carolina in 2005 after spending more than 25 years in the northwest, living in Oregon and Washington (Gig Harbor, Fox Island and Tacoma). In the last few years of his life, he was an event planner with his fiance, Dottie. They delighted in planning events which encompassed John's love of Harley Davidson motorcycles and "hitting the open road." John made two trips to Sturgis, South Dakota, with several friends on their Harleys to attend the annual Sturgis rallies.

John's survivors include his daughter, Jessie Cromwell, Sandpoint, Idaho, fiance Dorothy "Dottie" Dixon, Walnut Cove, N.C., who was with him at the end, his nephew Todd Gordon (Gwen, three children), niece Kim Martin (two children) and sister, Jeanine Barta, all of Kansas. John is also survived by his lifelong friend, David Smith, who he always referred to as "his brother" and David's wife, Kathy, Fox Island, Wash., AND lifelong friend, Terry Tatro and Terry's wife, Pat, Bellevue, Wash. David's sister, Julie Beal, Hutchinson, was always John's "next-door sister." We will all miss you, John.

Rest In Peace Randy.
