Very sad to announce that fellow classmate Steve Dye has passed. Below is Steve's obituary as published on the
Elliott Mortuary website:
Stephen Kent "Steve" Dye, 68, died March 15, 2020. He was born January 24, 1952, in Hutchinson, to Merle Gayford and Dorothy Mae (Teegardin) Dye.
Steve graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1970. He lived in Hutchinson until 1972, and then moved to Long Beach, CA. Steve returned to Wichita in 1990, and was currently living in Hutchinson. He was a master carpenter for both residential and commercial construction. Steve was an avid fan of pro-golf, NASCAR, and a car enthusiast. He was a member of First United Methodist Church, Hutchinson.
Steve is survived by: sisters, Cheryl Hayward of Topeka, Meryl Dye of Hutchinson; brother, Leonard Dye and wife Gayle of Loma Linda, CA; nephews, Paul Hayward of Kansas City, MO, and Landon Dye of Loma Linda, CA; nieces, Lesley Hayward of Topeka, Cassie Delaney and husband Chris of Bel Aire, Leanne Taylor and husband Nick of Grand Terrace, CA, Kristie Dye, Jennifer Dye, and Lauren Dye, all of Loma Linda, CA; and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews.
Steve was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law, Don Hayward.
Celebration of Life will be at First United Methodist Church, 101 E. 1st Avenue, Hutchinson, with Pastor Mic McGuire officiating. Burial will follow in Fairlawn Burial Park, Hutchinson.
